Yes, Mr. Zimby is human.

Actually a good example of the challenges inherent in a silent strip. For the gag to work without words, it has to be clear that the woman is attractive. Otherwise, it might not be as (seemingly) obvious why Zimby is chasing after her. You have to think he’s smitten by her for the joke to work.

I found it difficult to draw a woman who was as similarly stylized as Mr. Zimby, yet was also obviously attractive. Imagine replacing the woman in this joke with the telemarketer from the first Mr. Zimby strip. Personally I don’t think it would have worked as well.

Is Mr. Zimby human, or something else? From the first strip, I though every character looked somewhat like he does, but then more realistically human-looking characters were introduced, so now I’m not sure…

I love this strip, reminds me of some of my friends. Did not see the punchline coming at all either.
