Fixed. The sad part is I actually looked it up in the dictionary to double check my spelling and misread it.
Speaking of embarrassing spelling mistakes. I was playing “Bananagrams” (kind of like a free form Scrabble) the other day and tried to spell the word “soak” s-o-k-e. I’m not retarded. I know how to spell the word “soak”. My brain just totally fails me sometimes.
Mariah – First let me say, yes 15 is still classified as a kid. Second, I wasn’t “dissing” any book series using the words “chronicles of…” (or similar to it), I just meant, there’s SO MANY of them out there now (Spiderwick, Narnia, etc.) I was just having fun with the name Chronicles of…”whatever’s the latest craze.” I think the latest chronicles series teens are into now is the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer.
Ahh, poor Gill, I too understand the pain you feel after you finish a real good read. I started reading the Dark Tower series back when it first started. And I would read though each book within hours after getting it. And after that final book was read, and Roland walked through those fated doors to the dark tower, my life felt empty and hallow for awhile. It hurt to know that I wouldn’t be reading any new stories of Roland and company.
Narnia has been out for awhile. Is that even a craze? I remember reading those books in church back in the early 90s. The original movies were far better as well.
I hate book withdrawal… So I just keep finding new books, some from favorite authors, some from authors I haven’t read before. Sure, it keeps me up late at night, but all in all, I think it’s worth it.
Looks like Gill needs to be introduced to a place called a Library. I think both his parents would like that – something that can keep Gill busy (and out of their hair) for free. Though his dad might not like it anyway, on principle.
Yeah! The library’s full of liberal socialists, and I oughta know … I work in one.
When I get close to the end of a book series, I start reading slower and slower, cause I don’t want it to end. But, I know that after some time passes, I’ll just read the series again.
Pizzasgood, I think you’re right about Dad not liking the library on principle. I’m pretty sure he’s the type who thinks the library is another crackpot pinko-commi/Socialist scheme designed by the gov’t to part with his hard-earned money through taxes. “Free books?!? From the gov’t/local municipality? What is this, Russia? Hey, where’s that damn mailman with my unemployment check?” I always fee bad about Gil having this guy for a dad, but he really makes me laugh, ’cause I’ve known so many people like him.
More to the subject — Anyone remember Anne of Green Gables? Worse than heroin and coffee combined…
Jeff- I didn’t think you were dissing anything. I was going for a more lighthearted and funny tone. Hard to tell with just plain old text. I guess thats why people use emoticons.
I was just saying that I have a lot of Chronicles books.
I hate that too. The Xanth novels broke the cycle of withdrawl for me!
hate to be pedantic but it’s withdrawal with an ‘a’ before the ‘l’. The other would apply if you’re getting rid of a Southern accent I guess.
Been there. Done that.
@Tim

Cute strip today norm. A lot of kids today are hooked on a book series of some kind, like Harry Potter, or the Chronicles of whatever.
I love the Chronicles of whatever! I seem to have a lot of “The Chronicles of” books. At least I read. (I’m 15. Still classified as kid? Probably.)

That’s happened to me with every series of books I’ve eer enjoyed… the only cure is to find a new series.
