On a mechanical level I know next to nothing about cars, but I’ve always appreciated the aesthetics of automobiles. Here are some recent ink drawings I did using photos from an encyclopedia of cars as reference material.
I’ve always admired (and envied) the work of the commercial artists who created those beautiful illustrations for automobile ads that were so prominent back in the 50s 60s and 70s. My own skills pale by comparison, but once in a while I still get the urge to attempt a realistic rendering of an automobile. These didn’t come out half bad.
At the top is a 1960 Saab 96. In the center is a 1950 Morris Minor. On the bottom is a 1965 Oldsmobile Toronado.
*Sigh* If only my income matched my taste in unique cars, I wouldn’t be driving a beat up ’95 Honda Civic. A reliable vehicle to be sure, but does any car look more boring than a Civic?
