While digging out some more Origami Man strips to scan, I came across a couple of random strips that I never developed.
This one was going to be about a county coroner and his weird family. I only wrote about six before running out of ideas on where to go with it.
This one was going to be about a nerdy kid and his detached father. I intentionally designed the characters to look as if they lived in the late 1950s or early 1960s … but I don’t remember why. I only drew this one strip.
When I started down the road to getting syndicated, my strategy was to crank out as many different ideas as I could until something stuck. I made it my goal to have a new submission package ready to send off by the time the rejection letters from the last submission package started rolling in. As a result, I ended up with a lot of half-baked strips like these that never made it into a fully formed submission.
