Tom Racine has yet another cool new interview up on Tall Tale Radio, this time with Dan Piraro of “Bizarro” fame.

From TTR:

“Dan Piraro of “Bizarro” joins me today. He’s one of my favorite cartoonists of all time, and we talk about his 25 years in the biz! Find out why B. Kliban’s book “Never Eat Anything Bigger Than Your Head” changed his life…learn about the symbols he hides throughout his comic…Find out about the animated film by his friend Nina Paley, who introduced him to the Cintiq … learn how this self-professed introvert did a stand-up comedy tour! “Bizarro” truly is one of my favorite all time comics, so it was quite the honor and pleasure to talk to Dan, and his candor and humor make this one of my favorite interviews.”

Recently, the Cedar Rapids Gazette dropped “Retail” from both their daily and Sunday comics line-up to “give a new comic a chance”. So of course they had to cut my 4-year-old strip and let the 50-year-old clunkers stay.

Many people have already complained about the change, but I would appreciate any and all help I can get to have “Retail” reinstated in Cedar Rapids. Please follow the link below to the Gazette’s website and let your opinion be heard either in their blog, or through the “contact us” link at the top right of the same page.

Any help you can give me is appreciated.  All I ask is that you be civil in your discourse.

Thank you.

A few people sent me emails today when they caught that the inventory supervisor from this week’s story line has a mysteriously shifting eyepatch.  As you can see above, his eyepatch shifts from his left eye in the first panel to his right in the last two.

As much as I would like to claim this as some clever hijinks on my behalf, it was a simple continuity error that I failed to catch.  Interestingly, his eyepatch stays over his right eye for the remainder of the story.

Oh well.  It gives him an Igor from “Young Frankenstein” quality.

… wasn’t that hump on the other side before?

Every month DC Comics (publisher of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, etc.) pits 10 comics against each other on their webcomics site, Zuda. For a few weeks, people are invited to rank, vote on and praise or damn the comics until one emerges victorious (read: most popular) and the creators of said comic are offered a one year contract to keep making it.

My good friend Brock Heasley (TTF brother and creator of, The SuperFogeys) along with artist David Schlotterback, and colorist Michael DeVito,  created a Zuda submission called MONSTERPLEX. which went live on the zudacomics.com site today.

To assist in his efforts to gain support in the competition, Brock has established a blog at http://monsterplex.blogspot.com/ . There he’ll be updating every day with news, link to reviews,  interviews, sketches, and behind-the-scenes looks. You’ll also find full details about how you can join TEAM MONSTERPLEX!

Please go check out his submission!  It’s cool stuff!

Oh man, if you haven’t visited the Tall Tale Features website recently, you have to stop by today and check out the new site design!

Irma Eriksson (TTF member, creator of the webcomic “Imy”, and website designer extraordinaire) totally pimped out the site just in time for a host of new content.  TTF has completely overhauled the entire site and added some very cool new features to compliment the already awesome Tall Tale Radio Podcast!  This week Tom Racine interviews Rick Kirkman, artist behind the wildly popular syndicated comic strip “Baby Blues”.  As always, Tom brings home a top notch interview.  I’m always amazed at the people he gets for his show!

So go check out the site! Be sure to browse around and check everything out.  Don’t be afraid to use the comment sections.  We really want to hear from you.

… and yes, Irma’s mad website skills are what shamed me into stepping up my own site a notch.
